The subjects that were given the CBD showed less symptoms of their social anxiety disorder during the tests. People who were not given CBD either remained the same or their SAD was elevated. In the study researchers asked pet owners to give CBD to their dogs who had been diagnosed with a joint inflammation issue called osteoarthritis. This diagnosis causes inflammation around the joints and difficulty being mobile. Owners were asked to give CBD to their dogs two times a day for four weeks. Along with giving their dogs CBD they were asked to go through a weekly questionnaire to see if anything had gotten improved, worsened, or if the dog’s symptoms had stayed the same. At the end of the study the results were that the dogs had begun to be more mobile.

        It’s important to understand what something is because that helps you understand how something works. So, here are some of the main things that you need to know about CBD.  

        CBD is a chemical compound that is found in the cannabis plant, along with around 112 other similar chemical compounds. These compounds are more commonly known as cannabinoids. While there have been a fair number of studies completed and published it this research is still considered preliminary by the scientific community. So, it is good to take what we’re about to talk about with a grain of salt. That all being said, there has been some incredibly encouraging research published. Many studies have suggested that CBD may be able to help many people with many different things. So, let’s talk about some of those studies and how they relate to sleep.  

        One thing that can commonly keep people awake is anxiety and similar disorders. This is one of the areas where CBD may be able to help. There have been many studies on CBD and anxiety, but there is one in particular that seems especially relevant. It focuses on a child suffering from insomnia caused by Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Her doctor put her on a trial run of CBD to see if it may help soothe the symptoms of the PTSD. The child not only fell asleep easier, but she also stayed asleep longer and reported better quality of sleep overall. This, along with the many other studies on CBD, would suggest that CBD may be able to quite anxiety enough to encourage a better night’s sleep. 

        Another thing that may make sleep difficult is pain. Having any sort of soreness or inflammation can make it difficult to relax and, as a result, fall asleep. Luckily, this is another area that has been looked at a lot with CBD in research. There have been many studies, like this one and this one, that have been focused on pain specifically. There have been even more studies, like this one and this one, that have been focused on the idea that CBD may have anti-inflammatory effects.         There are somethings that should be noted if you are wanting to give CBD a try to help with sleep.         MCT oil is highly concentrated with medium-chain triglycerides. It is regarded as a health supplement and is considered to provide several potential health benefits. MCT oil is made through a process called fractionation, which involves extracting and isolating MCTs from palm kernel oil or coconut oil. Most MCT oil usually contains 100% C10 capric acid or 100% C8 caprylic acid, but there is a variant of MCT that contains a combination of both C10 and C8. MCT oils usually don’t contain C6 caproic acid because of its unpleasant smell and taste and C12 lauric acid is either present in small amounts or isn’t included at all. Manufacturers are actively using MCT oil as the carrier for CBD oil.         Multiple animal and human studies link MCTs with lower cholesterol levels. According to an animal study, MCTs increase the excretion of bile acids and help reduce cholesterol levels. Another animal study suggests that virgin coconut oil increases antioxidant levels and improves cholesterol levels. A human study suggests that a combination of a low-calorie diet and coconut oil reduces the levels of bad cholesterol (LDL) and increases the levels of good cholesterol (HDL). Some studies, however, report that MCT doesn’t affect cholesterol levels in any way. 


        There are multiple studies that suggest MCTs may lower blood sugar levels. According to a study, an MCT rich diet increases insulin sensitivity in patients of type 2 diabetes. A study of 40 overweight patients with type 2 diabetes reports that MCTs, along with traditional medication, decrease the risk of diabetes, reduces insulin resistance, body weight, and waist circumference. An animal study reports that MCT oil protects against inflammation and insulin resistance.  

        Brain function 

        MCTs produce an alternative energy source for the brain known as ketones and may enhance the brain function in people consuming ketogenic diets. MCTs’ role in preventing or reducing the symptoms of brain disorders, including dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, is becoming a topic of interest for research. According to a study, MCT improves memory, learning, and brain function in patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease. This effect, however, only appeared in patients without the variant of the APOE4 gene. It is important to note that the sample size of all these studies was relatively small, so we need more studies to be sure about the health benefits of MCT oil. 

        Dosage and Side Effects of MCT oil 

        We currently do not know the defined tolerable upper intake level (UL) of MCT oil. However, a dosage of 60-100 mL or 4-7 tablespoons is considered to be the maximum daily dose. A majority of studies support using 15–74 mL or 1-5 tablespoons of MCT oil, but currently, it’s not clear which dose provides the most benefits. Thankfully, no adverse side effects or negative interactions have been reported; however, some minor side effects may occur after using MCT oil. These side effects may include:

One common area of confusion is surrounding the connection between hemp oil and CBD oil. This is understandable as some people use the terms interchangeably, while others insist that there is a difference. We here at Nature Blend can tell you that both groups are right. Kind of.

          But before we can explain that we should cover the basics.

However, this does not stop people from incorrectly believing that CBD causes a high. Let’s clear that up right now. It does not cause any high or psychoactive effects. People also think that all kinds of cannabis will cause a high. This is also incorrect. There are a couple of different variations of cannabis. One of them, marijuana, has a lot of THC and does cause a high. The other, hemp, has only 0.3% THC and a lot of CBD. It does not cause a high as its THC level is not nearly high enough to have an effect. This, and the high concentration, is why hemp is used to make CBD products. 

          Speaking of CBD products, let’s get into some detail about CBD oil. It is CBD extract that has been mixed with a carrier oil. These carriers are usually some kind of inert essential oil, like coconut or avocado oil. It is definitely one of the more basic CBD products out there. They normal consist of just the above-mentioned ingredients. Some CBD oils have other essential oils to help with flavor or to give the oil a little bit of boost. It can be taken in a few different ways. One of the main one is by mixing it in with food or drink. You can also take it directly via your mouth, as most CBD oil bottles come with a dropper that makes dispensing the oil simple.           Is it different from hemp oil? 

          The answer to this is yes and no. But it is not as complicated as it seems. 

          CBD extract comes in three different forms. Each form is defined by what cannabinoids and compounds are found in the extract, because CBD tends to bring friends when it is taken out of the hemp plant. The form of CBD extract that is in essence the “purest” is full spectrum CBD. It has all of the cannabinoids and compounds that may come with the CBD (including THC, but, as we know, it is not enough to cause a high). Full spectrum CBD is considered the purest because there is less done to it. Unlike other forms of CBD extract, there is no extra filtering process to go through. This kind of CBD extract, when mixed with a carrier oil, is considered hemp oil. This is because it has more of the hemp plant to it than any other form of CBD oil. So, when it comes to full spectrum CBD, the term hemp oil can be used interchangeably with CBD oil. But not so much with the other forms. 

          The two other main forms of CBD extract are broad spectrum and CBD isolate. Broad spectrum has a majority of the other cannabinoids and compounds with one exception; it has no THC. The reason that people seek out full and broad spectrums is that these compounds may provide the entourage effect. This is when compounds use each other to build up a stronger effect. Broad spectrum may help provide that without the concern over THC. CBD isolate is just CBD, with no other compounds or cannabinoids. CBD isolate’s effect may not be a strong as the effects of the other extracts, but its effect is likely to be clearer. 

          So, is hemp oil different from CBD oil? It really breaks down to this hemp oil is CBD oil, but not all CBD oil is hemp oil. It is also a good to know that hemp oil and hemp seed oil are two different things. Hemp seed oil is made just from the seed of the hemp plant, while hemp oil is made from the flower and leaves. Hemp oil is more likely to help provide you with the benefits of CBD, as it has a lot of the cannabinoid. Hemp seed oil does not have CBD in it and offers very little to its users. So, beware when shopping for hemp oil that it is actually hemp oil and not hemp seed oil.

CBD (also known as cannabidiol) is one of the 113 cannabinoids found in the Cannabis sativa plants. The term Cannabis sativa plants likely sounds familiar to you. This is because the term has been in and out of the news for years. Cannabis sativa is a plant that is naturally found and is found in different forms. Each of these forms contains different cannabinoids or compounds. Most of the Cannabis sativa plants contain the same cannabinoids but, in different amounts. Take the marijuana plant for instance, this is a plant that contains high amounts of cannabinoids called THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). Marijuana and THC are in the news the most often because of the effects that it has on those who use it. There are also some others that assist those going through anti-cancer treatments like chemotherapy and the nausea and other harmful effects it may cause. They are called Marinol (dronabinol), Syndros (dronabinol), and Cesamet (nabilone). These medications can only be prescribed by a healthcare professional or doctor.

              MCTs have been linked to lower cholesterol levels by multiple human and animal studies.
