CBD and Epidiolex

What Is CBD

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a type of cannabinoid that naturally occurs in cannabis (hemp and marijuana) plants. Another type of cannabinoid is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which contains psychoactive properties and is responsible for causing ‘high.’ Unlike THC, CBD does not cause any euphoric sensation and may help treat many ailments in both humans and animals.

Some people use topical CBD products for pain management and inflammation because the research on pain management regarding CBD has been promising. CBD could be a useful alternative for those with a chronic condition and depend on different medications.

Epidiolex is the only CBD product that is FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approved. This medicine is used for treating seizures and epilepsy.

What Is Epidiolex?

Epidiolex is a prescribed drug used for treating seizures caused by two types of epilepsy – Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. These are the rarest epileptic conditions, which appear in infancy or early childhood. Epidiolex is primarily made of the naturally occurring compound, Cannabidiol (CBD). This medicine comes in liquid form and is consumed by mouth. It can be used by adults and children ages two or older.

Research suggests that Epidiolex is an effective pharmaceutical medicine, which reduces the number of seizures in consumers. The studies showed that:

  • Individuals taking Epidiolex for Dravet syndrome noticed 26% lesser seizures than those not consuming the medicine.
  • People with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome consuming the pharmaceutical drug noticed 20%-25% reduction in seizures.

FDA Approval

Epidiolex was approved by the FDA in June 2018. It was the first CBD-based drug approved by the FDA to treat Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome.

Epilepsy and Seizures

The FDA approved Epidiolex treats seizures caused by two rare forms of epilepsy, including:

Dravet Syndrome – It causes seizures that typically occur in infancy

Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome – In this form of epilepsy, seizures usually begin in early childhood.

These epileptic forms are difficult to treat, and patients need more than one dosage to reduce the number of seizures they get.

Other Health Benefits of Using CBD

Several clinical studies are now looking at different ways CBD could potentially be used to help treat other health ailments. Some of them are:

Numerous small studies were conducted, and it was concluded that CBD may help reduce schizophrenia symptoms in some individuals. It is important to note that other studies haven’t shown any improvement after using CBD

If you want to try CBD for treating schizophrenia, make sure to first discuss it with your doctor.

Although CBD isn’t approved for treating autism, a few studies show that CBD could potentially be useful to help manage this condition. According to a clinical study, CBD reduced the following symptoms in children with autism:

  • Hyperactivity
  • Anxiety
  • Aggression

Since CBD hasn’t been proven effective or safe for autism, one must consult a doctor before consuming it for autism.

The research was conducted to find the effects of CBD on treating migraines. Some clinical studies showed that CBD helped reduce migraine headaches in individuals consuming the cannabinoid. Note that CBD was used in combination with THC – tetrahydrocannabinol.

Multiple Sclerosis (MS)

Just like other health conditions, CBD is not approved to treat multiple sclerosis. There is not enough evidence about using CBD alone for treating MS.

Many studies have shown that a combination of THC and CBD may help treat MS. According to a studypeople consuming CBD and THC showed reduction in the following symptoms:

  • Urinary incontinence (loss of urinary control)
  • Muscle spasticity (stiff or contracting muscles)
  • Generalized pain

Epidiolex Side Effects

Following are the most common side effects caused by consuming Epidiolex:

  • Malaise (generally not feeling well)
  • Fatigue
  • Diarrhea
  • Drowsiness
  • Loss of appetite
  • Insomnia
  • Skin rash
  • Infections, like fungal or viral infections

Some severe side effects of Epidiolex include:

  • Severe allergic reaction
  • Liver problems
  • Suicidal behavior or thoughts
  • Sedation (loss of coordination, sleepiness, and trouble thinking clearly)

If you experience any of these side effects, you are suggested to immediately consult a doctor.

The legality of CBD and Epidiolex

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved one type of CBD in 2018. This CBD form is a treatment for individuals with two rare kinds of epilepsy, Dravet Syndrome (DS) and Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome (LGS). The medicine is called Epidiolex.

CBD products derived from marijuana are not yet legal at the federal level, but are legal under the laws of some states. On the other hand, hemp-derived CBD products containing 0.3% THC or less are legal federally but are still illegal in certain states.

Hence, people must check their state’s laws and those of anywhere they are planning to travel. Make sure to remember that the FDA does not regulate or approve nonprescription CBD products. It may result in inaccurate labeling.

What Can CBD Do for Horses?

We all know that CBD may be beneficial for human beings. In fact, you may even know that CBD may offer benefits for cats and dogs as well. What you may not hear is how it can benefit horses. Horses are intelligent and have a high capacity for emotion, but they are also very complex pets to own. Seeing your horse suffering from chronic pain or behavioral problem can be overwhelming.

Fortunately, research on CBD has shown it to potentially have several health benefits for horses. As the naturally the occurring substance is gaining more popularity, you might consider adding it to your horse’s routine for their wellbeing. In this article, we explain everything you need to know about CBD for horses

What Is CBD?

CBD is short for cannabidiol. It is one of the many cannabinoids of the Cannabis sativa plant. The hemp-derived CBD is safe to consume as it contains less than 0.3% tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), a substance responsible for getting you high. Unlike THC, CBD doesn’t cause any psychedelic effect. Moreover, the CBD compound may help maintain numerous bodily functions by stimulating cannabinoid receptors in the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) and brain. The ECS consists of naturally existing cannabinoid receptors that interact with CBD and other cannabinoids. Since both animals and human beings have a similar ECS, it is clear that all these mammals may be able to benefit from CBD

The Safety of Giving CBD to Your Horse

One of the main selling points of CBD is its safety and purity. As the compound is naturally present and derived through CO2 extraction, it does not cause any harmful effects, unlike many pharmaceutical drugs. Still, it is important to note that CBD might have some minor effects, such as:

  • Drowsiness or fatigue
  • Increased thirst
  • Change in appetite
  • Restlessness
  • Unbalance blood pressure

These adverse effects usually take place during the initial stages of CBD consumption as the horse’s body is not familiar with the compound. It is best to begin with the lowest possible dosage and gradually increase it over time; it will help you reduce the risk of the aforementioned side effects.

How CBD May Benefit Your Horse

Most CBD studies have been conducted on humans and pets, like cats and dogs. Although there is not enough evidence for CBD benefits for horses, the similar ECS among these pets indicates that CBD may give benefits to horses as well. CBD may help manage pain, inflammation, stress, digestion, and more.

    May Reduce Chronic Pain

Most horses suffer from chronic pain conditions, such as arthritis, due to their large size. Also, athletic horses face severe stress problems, too, and CBD may help reduce chronic pain associated with arthritis and stress.

Following are some reasons that make CBD a better option than prescribed medicines:

    • Pharmaceutical drugs for chronic pain conditions have adverse effects, making your horse feel sedated and sluggish.
    • Research shows that CBD may hold anti-inflammatory properties, which help decrease inflammation and swelling of joints, leading to relieving pain and pressure

    May Improve Digestion

Horses take a grain-only diet, so they are highly susceptible to digestive problems, such as – bloating, indigestion, nausea, lack of appetite, and ulcers. Also, intense physical training may lead to severe digestive issues in horses. Pet owners treat these digestive issues with prescribed medications, which usually result in side effects.

CBD appears to have anti-inflammatory properties that may help fight against harmful microorganisms found in the grains with which horses are being fed.

    May Treat Anxiety and Stress

CBD may be beneficial for one’s mental health, too. Having optimum emotional health is essential for the peak performance of horses, but they sometimes feel stressed out or anxious. Feeding CBD may help them stay calm and avoid anxiety

Here is how CBD may help decrease anxiety and stress in horses:

Promotes Emotional Health – Undoubtedly, horses are emotionally intelligent animals, and it is essential to keep them emotionally healthy all the time. CBD consumption may help your horse feel better and confident during race performance and other times.

Treats Pre-Competition Nerves – Horses competing in races or sports may experience pre-competition nerves. CBD could be a great and natural compound for treating pre-competition nerves. Horses often experience ‘arena anxiety’ when competing in closed spaces, which leads to poor performance. Fortunately, CBD may help manage these conditions effectively and safely.

    Where to Buy CBD?

If you are looking for the original and high-quality CBD products, Nature Blend is the platform to trust. They provide 100% natural, CO2 extracted, and clinically tested CBD products to help you and your pets cure multiple health conditions.

CBD may help improve the physical and mental wellbeing of horses. This cannabinoid appears to contain anti-anxiety, anti-inflammatory, and other therapeutic properties, which could make this compound ideal for horses. Give your athletic horse CBD before the competition, and you may notice a significant improvement in their performance.

How Do Arnica and CBD Work Together?

Old injuries and active lifestyles can cause physical pain and discomfort in individuals. People usually opt for pharmaceutical drugs for treating these health conditions. However, this is not always the best option as it may cause side effects. On the bright side, there is hope for a natural solution – the combination of cannabidiol (CBD) and Arnica is said to be highly effective for helping relieve pains and aches. Let’s dig deeper into CBD and Arnica to know everything about this unique and potent mixture.

    What Is CBD?

CBD is an active compound of the Cannabis sativa plant, which doesn’t cause any ‘high’ in its users. It is the most famous cannabinoid out of 113 known compounds of the plant. In the 2018 Farm Bill, the consumption of CBD became legal, and it has been on the rise since then. One of the most prominent benefits of consuming CBD is it effectively treats pain and inflammation.

The purest and best quality CBD is the one that is derived through the CO2 extraction method. Also, make sure to look for CBD products which contain less than 0.3% tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)

    Health Benefits of CBD

The CBD compound is used for helping manage many health problems, such as:

      What is Arnica?

Arnica is a natural herb which is found in moderate climates, like Siberia and central Europe. It can also be grown in temperate parts of the United States. The flowers of the plant are bright yellow in color and used for medicinal purposes. Since Arnica is typically grown in the mountains, it is called ‘mountain daisy.’

Arnica is used for treating physical discomfort, but it is also consumed as a flavoring ingredient. It adds flavor to drinks, candies, and even frozen desserts. Not only that, some manufacturers even use it in hair tonics and anti-dandruff shampoos.

      Health Benefits of Arnica

Arnica is most commonly used for treating pain caused by sore throat, osteoarthritis, and surgery. It can also be used for bruising, bleeding, swelling, and other conditions.

CBD + Arnica – A Potent Mixture to Treat Health Ailments

People may experience even better results when CBD and Arnica are combined together. The pair targets discomforts and irritations to provide quick relief. The most effective way to consume this duo is through topical application.

A CBD Arnica topical is any lotion, cream, or salve that is infused with CBD and Arnica and can be directly applied to the skin. These topicals help manage pain and inflammation to reduce the physical discomfort.

      CBD + Arnica for Massage

Before knowing the efficacy of this duo, massage therapists often used CBD alone for losing tight muscles and decreasing discomfort. Today, the mixture of CBD and Arnica is widely used around the world. Also, there are additional benefits to be experienced since the mixture is applied topically through massage.

      CBD + Arnica for Bruising

Bruising is expected when the body gets injured in one way or another. It takes place due to tiny blood vessels under the skin, which may get damaged by the slightest impact. As a result, blood gets stored under the skin.

Although the stored blood is reabsorbed by the body over time, the healing procedure can be bothersome. The bruises turn into multiple colors and are usually painful to touch. Both CBD and Arnica are known for having potential anti-inflammatory properties. So, when the duo is used, it goes directly to the bruised area and could hasten the healing process.

Is the Mixture Safe to Consume?

Arnica is grown naturally, so there is no chance of any side effects. CBD, on the other hand, may cause some minor side effects when consumed with other oils or products. These side effects may include:

      • Diarrhea
      • Nausea
      • Vomiting
      • Upset stomach

Where Do I Buy CBD Arnica Products?

You must look for a reputable seller to buy a natural and effective duo. Hemp-derived CBD is easily available in most areas, even some health food stores. On the other hand, CBD that is derived from marijuana can be found in some dispensaries in states where marijuana is legal for recreational and medicinal purposes.

Look for brands that are trustworthy and reputable. The best way to determine if a brand is reputable is by checking the third-party lab testing of their products. If there is no third-party lab test conducted, the product isn’t worth buying.

That being said, Nature Blend is a trustworthy online platform. They provide 100% natural, CO2 extracted, and non-GMO products to every client.

      Precautions to Take

      Pregnancy and breast-feeding

It is advised not to consume the mixture if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.

Allergic to Ragweed and related plants

Individuals sensitive to the Composite/Asteraceae family may experience an allergic reaction when using Arnica. The family members are Marigolds, Ragweed, Daisies, Chrysanthemums, and others. Make sure to check a healthcare professional before applying it to the skin.

      Digestion Problems

If you have Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Crohn’s disease, or ulcers – you are advised to consult a doctor as Arnica may cause irritation in the digestive system.

Where Pure CBD Oil Comes From

Cannabidiol (CBD) is the non-psychoactive cannabinoid of the cannabis plant. It may produce a feeling of calm and relaxes the user instead of making users feel high or intoxicated that tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) does. CBD has become so popular these days that you can now find all sorts of products that include CBD, and among them, CBD oil is probably the most famousIn this blog, well tell you everything about CBD oil and where it comes from.

What is CBD oil and how is it made?

Manufacturers make CBD oil by extracting CBD from hemp and adding the extract into a carrier oil, which usually includes hemp seed oil, coconut oil, olive oil, or MCT oil. There are many methods for extracting CBD and making CBD oil, but carbon dioxide (CO2) extraction is the most popular one. In CO2 extraction, manufacturers pump CO2 into a chamber containing hemp material. Due to high pressure, the CO2 absorbs the flavors and oils of the plant matter. Then the mixture of CO2 and plant matter is transferred into a different chamber where CO2 returns to its gaseous state, only leaving flavors and oil behind. Other extraction methods include oil infusion and liquid solvents.

      What makes CBD oil pure?

When it comes to CBD oil, the term pure can have two different meanings. When a person says pure CBD oil, they may be referring to any type of CBD oil that doesnt contain harmful elements and doesnt contain any contaminants. Other people use pure CBD oil to define CBD isolate oil. CBD isolate oil doesnt contain the other cannabinoids and components of the cannabis plant and contains 99% pure CBD isolate extract. So, depending on the context, pure CBD oil means that it is free of contaminants or it belongs to the isolate category.

Different ways to use CBD oil

The main reason behind the popularity of CBD oil is that you can use it in almost any way you want.

The sublingual method of using CBD oil is one of the most popular methods of using CBD oil. In this method, you put a few drops of CBD oil under your tongue, hold them in your mouth for one or two minutes and then swallow. The mucous membrane quickly absorbs the CBD oil and enables the CBD to reach the endocannabinoid system more easily.

      Topical application

In the topical application of CBD oil, you apply CBD oil directly to your skin or the problem area. CBD oil’s topical application is considered the safest method of using CBD oil because the CBD doesn’t enter your bloodstream. People using CBD oil for pain relief and to reduce inflammation often prefer this method as they can directly apply it to the target area.

Ingesting CBD oil is another effective method of using CBD oil. You can consume capsules containing CBD oil, make food using CBD oil, or add CBD oil to your food. This method provides longlasting results; however, the effects of CBD oil may take a while to kick-in, somewhere between 30 minutes to 4 hours. So, dont consume more after taking the first dose and allow the CBD oil to produce its effects.

Inhaling CBD oil is the fastestacting method of using CBD oil; however, it may not be the safest. Experts are linking smoking and vaping with lung injury and are recommending not to use vapes and e-cigarettes. So, use this method at your own discretion after doing proper research about the legality and risks of using vapes and e-cigarettes.

      Uses of CBD oil?

You can use CBD oil for the following purposes:

      May relieve pain

CBD oil may effectively relieve pain by interacting with the brain receptors. Due to this interaction, CBD has the potential to effectively relieve multiple types of pain, including chronic, injury, muscle, arthritis, and MS.

      May reduce seizure frequency

According to a study, CBD, along with the traditional epilepsy treatment, may reduce the frequency of seizures by 36.5%. The Food and Drug Administration has already approved a CBD-based medicine to treat two rare and severe forms of epilepsy.

      May relieve anxiety

One of the most popular uses of CBD oil is to relieve feelings of anxiousness. According to research, CBD could increase serotonin levels by interacting with the serotonin receptors. The increase in serotonin levels results in a potential better mood and reduced anxiety. Another study suggests that a single dose of CBD may significantly reduce anxiety levels when compared to a placebo.

      May prevent acne

Our body produces an oily substance called sebum to moisturize itself, but acne outbreaks can occur due to sebum’s overproduction. According to a studyCBD interacts with the sebaceous glands and regulates sebum production, which in turn may prevent acne. Acne can also occur due to inflammation, and data suggest that CBD has amazing anti-inflammatory properties.

May protect the brain and nerves

Researchers believe that CBD may interact with the CB1 receptor in the brain and may provide neuroprotection to patients suffering from neurodegenerative diseases.

      Side effects of CBD oil

Health experts suggest that CBD is safe to consume and doesnt have a risk of addiction. So pure CBD oil that is free of toxins is also safe to consume; however, people with sensitive metabolism may experience a few side effects. These side effects may include:

      • Dizziness
      • Diarrhea
      • Changes in weight and appetite

      The legality of CBD oil

Hempderived CBD oil containing less than 0.3% THC is federally legal in the United States under the Farm Bill of 2018. Pure CBD oil is legally available, and you can easily buy it online or from your nearest health food store. But it is illegal in some states.

Pure CBD oil means isolate CBD oil or CBD oil that is free of toxins and contaminants. Before using CBD oil, be sure to consult with a healthcare professional and always buy products that are approved by an independent lab.

Is it worth it to buy CBD oil?

If you’re new to cannabidiol (CBD) oil, it may feel like it’s just another passing fad. Everyone is super into now, because a Kardashian got everyone all excited, but in a year or so it’ll be overlooked because of some new health trend. As a result, you’re probably thinking that CBD oil isn’t even worth trying, because the fad is all going to be over with sometime soon. But we would disagree. That is because CBD oil is a pretty incredible product. CBD itself offers many potential benefits. When it is made into an oil, those potential benefits are easy to access because the oils are easy and convenient to use. So, we really think that CBD oil is worth buying. But what is the proof to all of this, the evidence to back up our wholehearted endorsement? Let’s dive in and find out.

      What is CBD oil?

Let’s start with talking about what CBD oil even is. Afterall, how can you understand the fervor behind a product if you don’t even understand what that product is? So, let’s get into it.

There is a pretty amazing group of chemical compounds that are found in cannabis plants. They are called cannabinoids. Their amazingness comes from the fact that they interact with the Endocannabinoid System (ECS). That is a group of receptors that are spread throughout the body. They control a number of different functions including appetite and memory. CBD, if you haven’t guessed by now, is one of these cannabinoids. It’s interactions with the ECS are what researchers attribute its potential benefits to. There is another cannabinoid that has a different and more famous effect on the ECS.

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is a cannabinoid that is incredibly famous for its effects. It creates a psychoactive high. It is the cannabinoid that gives cannabis a bit of an infamous reputation (whether it deserves it or not). It is because of THC that many people are wary of CBD. They think that all cannabinoids have this psychoactive effect. However, that is a rather flawed way of thinking. CBD doesn’t have an effect like that. It is not psychoactive.

Not all cannabis plants have enough THC to cause a high. This fact is rather contrary to what many people think when they hear anything about cannabis. However, it is still a fact. For example, hemp has only 0.3% THC. This level is too low to cause any sort of high. This is why hemp is federally legal in the United States (it should be noted that “federally legal” doesn’t mean legal in every state, it means that it is possible for it to be legal in every state. Hemp is still illegal in some states). Hemp also has high levels of CBD, so it is a perfect cannabis variation for use by CBD manufacturers in making their products. This is all pretty different from marijuana, which has very, very high levels of THC. As a result, it does cause a high and is not federally legal (but it is legal in a few states).

CBD oil is one of the most common and popular CBD products you can find. It is CBD extract that has been mixed with some sort of carrier oil. The carrier oil is usually some kind of inert essential oil. They tend to be things like coconut and avocado oil. Some CBD oils have other essential oils in them to help with flavor or to help give a little boost to the oil. But other than that, they are pretty simple. Just CBD in some oil.

If they are so simple, why are they so popular?

      What’s so great about it?

Let’s start by talk about the benefits that CBD in general may offer, then we’ll get into what is going on with CBD oils.

Research on CBD has been focused on many different things, but one of the main ones is how it may affect your state of mind. That is, how it may be able to help with your mental health. For example, this study found that CBD was helpful for a child who had PTSD and struggled with sleeping. The researchers found that CBD helped her sleep better and handle her anxiety more efficiently. This is just one study of the many that have been looking at CBD and anxiety. Most of those studies have been very encouraging.

Another popular area of study connected to CBD is how it may affect inflammation. Inflammation is the culprit behind a number of different conditions and can cause some major complications in people’s lives. So, it is understandable why researchers are looking for solutions pretty much everywhere. Luckily, CBD has been showing promise in how it affects inflammation. For example, this study found that CBD could be helpful in decreasing inflammation caused by oxidative stress.

Now that we’ve covered some of the potential benefits of CBD, you’re probably wondering why so many people prefer CBD oils over other CBD products. One reason why people love them so much is that they are versatile. Most CBD products have one set way that you can take them, which feels a little constricting. CBD oils can be taken in a few different ways. The most direct way is by putting the drops directly in your mouth. This is faster as the skin under your tongue is thin and will allow for the CBD to absorb into the bloodstream much more easily. You can also mix the oils in with food and drink, making your own edibles. This way is a bit slower as you need to wait for the food to digest before the CBD can enter the bloodstream. Some people even use the oils as a kind of topical, rubbing the oil directly onto their skin. In all reality, there isn’t many wrong ways to use a CBD oil.

So, are CBD oils worth buying? We think so. But the only way you can find out for yourself is by giving some a try. So, why not check out Nature Blends fantastic line of all-natural CBD products to give some a shot?

      CBD Oil: the new fad

When it comes to the health and wellness industry there are many different fads that come around. Some are popular for a small amount of time while others thrive for centuries. So, which one will cannabidiol (CBD) oil follow? We here at Nature Blend think and have seen that CBD is here to stay. Sure, we may be a bit biased, but this article will explain why CBD is the new fad that will stick around.  But we are getting ahead of ourselves. We’ll start at the root of the subject. What is CBD?

      What is CBD?

CBD is one the 113 cannabinoids found in the Cannabis sativa plants. The Cannabis sativa plant is a naturally found plant. This plant comes in a few different variations you may or may not be familiar with. The more popular of variations is the marijuana plant. This is because marijuana is more well-known for its psychoactive effects. Why does the marijuana plant get users ‘high’? This is because of another cannabinoid found in the Cannabis sativa plants, THC. THC is found in all Cannabis sativa plants but has different percentages. The THC found in the marijuana plant is much higher than in the hemp plant. The hemp plant is another variety of the Cannabis sativa plant. The hemp plant has lower amounts of THC and therefore has become federally legal since 2018 because of the Farm Bill. CBD is the non-psychoactive component found in all variations of the Cannabis sativa plant. CBD products must have at or less than 0.3% of THC to be deemed a CBD product. No, CBD cannot get you high and the products made from the hemp plant are legal! So, what is CBD oil?

      What is CBD oil?

CBD oil is a type of CBD product. This particular CBD product is quite popular because of the ways that it can be used.  How is CBD oil processed? This processing method is called extraction. There are many different types of extraction processes. The following are three popular ones to keep in mind as you look at different companies.

Carbon Dioxide Extraction: Carbon dioxide is used to extract the CBD from the plant by using “supercritical” which, in simple terms means, using both carbon dioxide liquid and gas properties to extract. This is why carbon dioxide extraction is often known as Supercritical Fluid Extraction (SFE). In the beginning of the extraction, two different pressurized chambers are used. One, with the carbon dioxide, while the other contains the hemp plant. Then the chamber filled with carbon dioxide is pumped into the second chamber containing the hemp, where it breaks down the hemp plant and separates it from the CBD oil. The mixture is then pumped into a third chamber where the carbon dioxide is evaporated, leaving the CBD oil unaccompanied.

Steam Distillation: In this process, the steam separates the CBD oil from the plant itself. The hemp is placed in a separate container while a boiler is full of water beneath the hemp. Once boiling, the steam from the water travels upward to extract the CBD oil vapors from the hemp plant. The vapor from the plant is then trapped in a tube and added to oil or water. After this is collected, the oil is extracted from the water to make an oil. This process works well but requires a lot of the hemp plant and if the steam gets too hot it may damage the CBD oil extract.

Solvent Extraction (Hydrocarbons and Natural Solvents): This process is similar to the Steam Distillation extraction method. But, in this process one would use a type of solvent rather than water. The solvent and CBD oil are combined and then the solvent is extracted leaving the CBD behind. There are two types of solvents used: hydrocarbons and natural solvents. This is the least preferred type of extraction because it has been found to leave unwanted elements after the solvents have been extracted. These elements could be including naphtha, petroleum, butane, or propane for hydrocarbon extraction.

      What other products are there?

Besides CBD oil, (which, by the way, is often called a tincture) what products are there that are made with CBD? Here is a list of popular CBD products.

      • Tablets: This type of CBD is very easy to use. You just place it in your mouth, let it dissolve and you are done! After being dissolved the CBD reaches the bloodstream through the mouth. This is a very quick way to get CBD into your bloodstream.
      • Topicals: A CBD topical is a type of CBD that does not get into the bloodstream as it comes in forms of salves, lotions, creams, etc. These are used to improve the skin. To use a topical to its full benefits, make sure to use it often and in the same area.
      • Vapes: Vapes are CBD oil in a vapor form. Once inhaled the CBD is absorbed into the bloodstream from the lungs.
      • Softgels: Softgel CBD is a great way to get CBD into your routine. Our soft capsules are taken like any type of pill. Swallow and go! The capsule is full of CBD. Once it reaches the stomach through the digestive tract it breaks down and is absorbed into the bloodstream from the stomach. These take a bit longer to feel but, some have described to last a bit longer.
      • Edibles: Edibles and Softgels are similar but a bit different. So, instead of swallowing a capsule, edibles come in a variety of different yummy types. We sell cherry flavored gummies. Like softgels, after swallowing the edible breaks down in the stomach and the CBD is absorbed from there.

Is CBD Oil a fad that will fade or is it here to stay? You know what we think, but what do you think? Please feel free to contact us with any questions you have regarding our CBD or our extraction process. CBD? Yes!

Will CBD oil work for me?

If you talked to a group of people about cannabidiol (CBD), there is a fair chance that a good number of them would have tried it. Out of that group it is pretty likely that most of them like it and have continued to use it since they first started. It is also equally likely that there are some people in that group would say that they do not like CBD that much because they could not get it to work for them. They likely just experienced negative side effects without any of the positive effects. No one is quite sure why yet, but there are some people who are extra sensitive to things like CBD. As a result, they have poor experiences with the compound. So, how can you know if you are one of those extra-sensitive people? Unfortunately, it is not a simple test. But let’s talk a little about CBD oil before we really get into it.

      What does CBD oil do?

Let’s actually start with what CBD oil is.

CBD is a cannabinoid. That is a kind of chemical compound unique to the cannabis plant. They can be very useful because they interact with a group of receptors in the body that are part of a large group of receptors known as the Endocannabinoid System. This system controls a number of functions in the body, many of them associated with homeostasis. There are several different cannabinoids other than CBD, in fact there are over 113 different cannabinoids. One of them is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

THC is pretty famous. It is the compound in cannabis that makes people high. Because of their connection, it is not uncommon for people to think that CBD also gets people high. However, CBD does not cause a high at all. This major difference between CBD and THC is very important as it helps define the legality of two cannabis variations: hemp and marijuana.

Hemp has been federally legal since 2018 (but you should know that it is illegal in a few states). This is because hemp has very little THC and a lot of CBD. So, it is not likely to cause a high, but it may provide some potential health benefits. Meanwhile, marijuana is federally illegal, but its legal status has slowly been changing as more and more states legalize it on one level or another. Its legal status is based on the fact that marijuana has a lot of THC in it. Most CBD companies get their CBD from hemp instead of marijuana.

CBD oil is a pretty simple, yet effective product. It is CBD extract that has been mixed with an inert carrier oil. Avocado and coconut oils are some of the most common bases for CBD oil. These can be taken by mixing it in with food or drink. Or you can place the CBD drops directly into your mouth. Some people even rub the oil onto their skin.

There are a lot of potential effects of CBD that people claim out there. The research on these claims are still preliminary. However, the results of the studies that have been completed are incredibly encouraging. Some of the most promising studies have been focused on how CBD may be able to help anxietyinflammation, and pain.

It is not hard to see why people are excited about CBD. Afterall, research is showing it to be a potential holistic alternative to some unpleasant medication. But we are all too aware that not everything works the same for everyone. CBD is not exception in that. So, how can you tell if CBD would work for you?

How do I know if CBD oil will work for me?

The simple answer to this is, you do not know. Not really. Not until you try it. However, we can tell you that there are some specific circumstances where you may not want to take CBD oil. One of the main ones is if you take a medication with a grapefruit warning. If you do, you know that eating grapefruit can cause your medication to become in essence ineffectual. CBD does something similar to these medications. It tends to interact with these medications in the same way, causing them to not work as well or even stop working entirely.

The other circumstance where you should not take CBD is if your doctor tells you not to. Whether it is due to having medications that can be affected by CBD, or if it due to having an allergy, if your doctor tells you not to take CBD, they probably have a good reason. For example, your doctor will tell you not to take CBD if you are pregnant, planning on getting pregnant, or nursing. We do not yet know the full extent of how CBD effects children or unborn babies.

One thing that people who say that CBD does not work for them talk about the most is the side effects. Generally, the side effects of CBD are experienced by those who have taken too much of the cannabinoid. However, some people are sensitive to CBD enough that even the smallest amount of CBD is enough for them to get the negative side effects. These side effects usually include things like fatigue, nausea, and gastrointestinal upset. You can see that these side effects are not deadly, but they certainly are not fun either.

It is understandable why those who are sensitive to CBD would not want to take it. So, if you have tried CBD and its effects are unpleasant for you even at the smallest possible dose, it is safe to say that CBD is not likely going to work for you. Again, there is no set qualifier to help you decide whether or not CBD is going to work for you or not. You just have to try it. We recommend starting your dose small and then slowly working your way up if you are not experiencing the negative side effects. And of course, always be sure to talk to your doctor first.

Hemp or Marijuana: what’s the difference?

You may know the difference between these two plants, but perhaps you don’t and that’s why you are here. Maybe you didn’t even know that the two plants are correlated or even that they are, in fact, plants. Either way, you are here now, so let’s refresh your memory and maybe give some insight into more information that you didn’t know was available. Hemp? Marijuana? What’s the difference? Can I benefit from these two plants? Or is one better than the other? Read on to find out more.

      What is hemp?

To first understand what hemp and marijuana are, you need to understand what the Cannabis sativa plant is. The Cannabis sativa plant is a naturally found plant that comes in a variety of variations. Yes, you guessed it, that is where hemp and marijuana come in. Hemp and marijuana are two different varieties of the Cannabis sativa plant. These variations look the same but, when you look at the chemical make-up of each plant it varies.

Hemp is the variation of the Cannabis sativa plant that isn’t as well-known but is becoming more and more popular as time and research continues. As of 2018, the hemp plant is federally legal to grow and sell throughout the states. There are still states that have decided to keep the hemp plant illegal in their particular state, so make sure to look at the laws that your state has put into place. The hemp plant is federally legal because of the chemical compounds it carries. It contains high amounts of a cannabinoid (one of 113 found in the Cannabis sativa plant) called cannabidiol (CBD). This cannabinoid has the possibility to help achieve different kinds of wellness. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is another cannabinoid found in the Cannabis sativa plants. However, in the hemp variation, THC is at or lower than 0.3%. This is important, so keep this in mind. The hemp plant can be used in many different ways, from creams to vapes to clothing.

      What is marijuana?

This variation of the Cannabis sativa plant is a bit more well known. This is because the marijuana plant has been a topic of controversy for a long time. Recently there has been more research and therefore, understanding around the topic. Marijuana, unlike hemp, is not federally legal. The marijuana plant contains high amounts of THC. THC is the inebriating cannabinoid found in all Cannabis sativa plants. Because of this, marijuana is not federally legal, but some states have chosen to legalize it for recreational as well as medicinal purposes. Marijuana gets a bad rap because of the misinformation given long ago and it still affects users as well as marijuana distributors. There is still a stigma surrounding marijuana, so keep that in mind as you read more about why.

      THC versus CBD

Now that you understand that these two plants are closely related, but not the same, what about their key components? THC and CBD are often found together but can be separated from one another. That is where CBD shines the brightest, when it is the star of the show. CBD has been researched more now than ever before and that research shows promise. THC creates a type of euphoria or ‘high’. CBD does not. This is a common misconception among these two cannabinoids and is the reason that folks are apprehensive about using CBD or hemp products. We are here to tell you that CBD does not and cannot get users high.

So, which is better for you? This all depends on the reasons you want to use CBD or THC. THC, again, is only legal in a handful of states and you are only able to purchase it if you are 21 or older, sort of like alcohol. There are a few different medications that have THC in them. These can only be prescribed by a doctor. CBD, however, has many different reasons that it’s used. We’ll go over those in a bit. There is no wrong or right answer but, it all depends on what you feel is the right cannabinoid for you.

      Why use CBD?

We are a CBD company, so, let’s talk about why people use CBD. Here are a few popular reasons why you may want to try CBD:

FDA approved medications: There are many FDA approved medications that contain CBD. Epidiolex is the most well-known. This medication assists those with two severe types of epilepsy, Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome. There are also a handful of others that assist those going through anti-cancer treatments and the nausea it may cause. These are called Marinol (dronabinol), Syndros (dronabinol), and Cesamet (nabilone). These medications can only be prescribed by a health care professional.

Anti-inflammatory properties: CBD has been researched for the possibility of joint health benefits. In the study, it was asked of pet owners to give CBD to their dogs two times a day for four weeks in a row. The owners were to take a weekly test to show if anything had improved. At the end of the four weeks pet owners described their dogs to be more mobile. Therefore, the CBD may have helped with their joint health. Good news!

Antibacterial: There has been information coming out about the potential antibacterial properties of CBD. In this study they said that CBD had the capability to kill certain types of bacteria.

Skin health: Although CBD topicals don’t reach the bloodstream this does not mean that they cannot assist in the health of your skin. In this study they concluded that those with or without skin conditions had improved skin health after the use of CBD topicals. They used many different tests to explain before and after the use of a CBD topical. Their evidence was enhanced with photographic evidence.

Promote a sense of calm: Promoting a sense of calm in those who feel anxiousness could be helpful to some. In this study, they used brain imaging to exam subjects who have SAD (social anxiety disorder). The subjects who were given the CBD showed a decrease in their social anxiety disorder with evidence from brain scan imaging. Those who did not receive the CBD did not have any decrease and remained the same.

There are several other reasons why people choose to use CBD or even products made with THC. Which will you choose?

Is CBD oil safe for cats?

CBD has shown great promise for treating multiple conditions of humans. That includes alleviating anxiety disorders, chronic pain, and stress. You might not have heard that these similar benefits are stored for your feline friends as well. The stigma encompassing CBD and its benefits rapidly being a part of ancient history. You might even consider using CBD oil for your cat to ameliorate their wellness and medical condition.

      What Is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of 113 chemical compounds found in the Cannabis sativa plant, known for its non-psychoactive properties that don’t get you high. Unlike its infamous counterpart, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) which consists of over 480 psychoactive chemical compounds that cause a euphoric sensation.

Can You Use CBD Oil on Cats?

People are turning to CBD oil to elevate their feline friends’ quality of life and alleviate the symptoms of medical ailments. However, there’s no concrete evidence that proves CBD oil to be beneficial for cats. Therefore, if your cat is suffering from severe health conditions, consult with your veterinarian right away.

All cats are unique and have different kinds of personalities as well as have a distinct physical make-up. Hence, no two cats will likely react the same way when they’re administered with CBD. Most holistic vets claim CBD to be safe for cats and with few unwanted reactions. Consult with your vet before administering any form of CBD to your cat. The ideal CBD dosage is the most significant factor to take into consideration when administering CBD oil to your cats.

      How Does CBD Oil Work?

CBD, especially CBD oils, works quite similar to how a vitamin works. Administering Vitamin E supplement works to improve your circulatory system by raising your body’s supply of Vitamin E. CBD oils to work in the same manner in your endocannabinoid system and potentially helps to improve mood, sleep, and pain.

      CBD Oils Benefits for Cats

The endocannabinoid system of humans and cats works the same; therefore, CBD oil benefits will be quite similar to humans’ experience. CBD oil isn’t only effective in potentially treating chronic medical issues such as comfort or mood and may also be used to prevent severe medical conditions.

      • May help with pain

Mature cats generally suffer from arthritis pains that cause them distress and irritation. Conventional veterinary anti-inflammatory may help; several studies indicated quick pain relief of CBD oils only in humans. CBD works on cats as well; it’s a feasible option for cats that have trouble in drug metabolism of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

      • May help in relieving anxiety

Just like us, cats also are prone to stress and anxiety, particularly the ones living in the city and constrained space. Cats who suffer from chronic stress may experience several medical issues. CBD may reduce cortisol production and impacts mood controlling receptors inside the brain which is beneficial to regulate the neurological activity.

      • May help in improving appetite

Inadequate appetite may lead to several medical conditions, including mood disorders as well as dental diseases. CBD may help in stimulating a cat’s cravings and may improve their appetite.

      • May help with seizures and epilepsy

Seizures pose serious medical issues. Luckily, several studies have suggested CBD oils to be highly effective in potentially treating seizures both in humans and felines. The FDA approved the first-ever CBD made medicine, Epidiolex, to treat seizures linked with tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC). Previously, it was only approved to treat seizures related to two of the uncommon forms of epilepsy: the Dravet Syndrome and the Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome.

Seizures occur due to electrical interference inside the brain. These sudden and rapid changes your brain’s activity that causes severe shaking throughout the body. CBD offsets seizures by decreasing the frequency of these electrical interferences throughout the brain each time it’s used – administering a suppressive effect on upcoming seizures. It won’t entirely cure the disease; however, it reduces the number of times seizures occur substantially.

      • May help with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)

CBD may help treat inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in your feline friend. This medical condition occurs due to inflammation; therefore, CBD may contribute to regulating it because of its quality of decreasing swelling and distress it causes. It may not be a cure; however, if it’s administered regularly, your cats may not suffer from most of this disease’s unwanted reactions.

      • May help with skin and dermatitis

CBD oil may also help in improving your cat’s skin and dermatitis. In humans, studies have shown tremendous potential in alleviating symptoms of dry skin and acne. Similarly, these benefits potentially follow through on your feline friends as well.

Unwanted Reactions of CBD Oil for Cats

According to various vets, CBD has minimal to no severe side effects in most cats. With being said, CBD works differently on different species of cats. Therefore, we highly advise you to speak with your veterinarian before supplementing CBD into your cat’s wellness regimen. One of the common undesirable reactions is slight sedation and head shaking.

Even though it may not be entirely evident early on, cats are accustomed to napping. Keep your cat’s sleeping schedule in check after administering CBD. If your cat exhibits any signs of lethargy, decrease the dosage to alleviate those symptoms.

      Final Words

If you’re deciding to use CBD oil to betterment your beloved pet’s wellness, hopefully, we’ve provided all the information you need to follow through. Most CBD oils’ benefits aren’t a myth, such as its anti-inflammatory qualities work wonders in mitigating inflammation in various diseases. To find the appropriate CBD oil dosage, always talk to your veterinarian because different ailments require different portions of dosage.

      Uses for CBD

People have been using cannabis since 2900 B.C for all kinds of purposes. Thanks to the advanced technology and extensive research, scientists have been able to determine the compounds of cannabis that are beneficial not only for humans but for animals too. These compounds include cannabidiol (CBD), a cannabinoid found within the cannabis plant that doesn’t intoxicate and has a ton of uses. In this blog, we’ll take a look at few of the uses of CBD, but first, let’s take a look at different ways you can take CBD and different types of CBD.

      Different ways of taking CBD

Here are a few ways you can take CBD:

The topical application of CBD is best for skin care, pain, and inflammation. For this method, you use CBD creams, ointments, balms, gels, oil, etc. You put a few drops of the CBD product on your hand and massage it on the problem area, or you can apply the product directly on the problem area and rub it in with your handsThe CBD does not enter your bloodstream when using this method, so there are significantly lower chances of side effects or adverse reactions. When using this method, you don’t need any additional tools or knowledge about the product; you may not even have to monitor the dosage of the CBD product closely.

In the sublingual method of using CBD, you put a few drops of CBD oil or tincture under your tongue using a dropper. You hold the drops in your mouth for one or two minutes and then swallow. This method is considered to be very effective, and it is among the most popular method of using CBD. The dropper is usually included in the tincture bottle, so you don’t need any additional tools for this method as well. All you have to do is to figure out the right dosage and make sure that you are consuming the dosage that you need.

Edibles are the most delicious method of taking CBD and probably the most effective. Edibles are considered to be more potent than other cannabis and CBD products, so watch out how much you consume. You can buy pre-made CBD edibles such as CBD gummies, or you can make your own using CBD oil or CBD extract. Not only is this an effective method of experiencing the effects of CBD, but it is also the most discreet. People will think that you are eating normal gummies or food, the only way they’ll find out is if you give them a bite. CBD edibles may take up to four hours to kick in, so don’t overeat them if you don’t feel its effects right away.

Inhaling CBD via vapes and joints is another effective method of using CBD; however, it is also the riskiest. The smoke may cause discomfort in your lungs and throat, and experts are linking vapes with the recent lung injury outbreak, so use this method at your own discretion.

      Different types of CBD

Now that we know about the ways we can use CBD let’s take a look at the different forms of CBD.

      Isolate CBD

Isolate CBD products only contain CBD and do not contain any other cannabinoids of the cannabis plant. CBD isolate products are best for those who want to experience the effects of CBD but have low tolerance to other cannabinoids of the cannabis plant.

      Full-spectrum CBD

Full-spectrum CBD means that it includes every single cannabinoid and the components of the cannabis plant, including tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Full-spectrum CBD products are best for those who want to enhance the effects of CBD and aren’t sensitive to other cannabinoids of the cannabis plant. Full-spectrum CBD products that are derived from hemp and contain 0.3% THC are legal most of the United States, so they are the easiest to find and more effective than isolate because of the entourage effect

      Broad-spectrum CBD

Similar to full-spectrum CBD products, broad-spectrum also contains almost all the cannabinoids of the cannabis plant; the only difference is that they don’t contain any THC. Broad-spectrum CBD is best for those who want to benefit from all the cannabinoids of the cannabis plant but have lower tolerance for THC.

      Uses of CBD

Now let’s take a look at a few uses of CBD:

      Potentially relieving anxiety

Research suggests that CBD may be effective for relieving anxiety as it may alter the way our brain receptors react to serotonin. Serotonin is actively linked with mental health and the receptors we are talking about here are tiny proteins attached to our cells. These cells receive chemical messages and the proteins enable them to respond accordingly to various stimuli.

According to a study, a dosage of 600 mg of CBD is effective for relieving anxiety in social anxiety patients. An animal study suggests CBD may relieve anxiety by:

      • Lowering stress levels.
      • Reducing the physiological effects of anxiety, including increased heart rate.
      • Inducing sleep in cases of anxietyinduced insomnia.
      • Helping with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms.

        Potentially reducing seizure frequency

CBD is considered to be a possible treatment of epilepsy. In fact, treating two rare, severe and medicationresistant forms of epilepsy is the only FDA approved the use of a CBD based drug named EpidiolexResearch about the ability of CBD to reduce the frequency of epileptic seizures is still relatively new, but still, it shows a ray of hope for people with epilepsy. 2016 study published by the Lancet Neurology assessed 214 epilepsy patients. The researchers orally administered 2-5 mg of CBD every day to the patients, along with their existing epilepsy treatment. After 12 weeks of monitoring the seizure frequency and reviewing the side effects, the researchers concluded that the frequency of seizures was reduced by 36.5% after using CBD; however, 12% of participants experienced adverse side effects of CBD.

        Potentially providing neuroprotection

There is a receptor in our brain called CB1, which researchers believe may be able to help patients with neurodegenerative disorders. Over time, neurodegenerative diseases cause the brain and the nerves to deteriorate. Researchers believe that CBD may interact with CB1 and help patients with neurodegenerative disorders. Inflammation can worsen the effects of neurodegenerative diseases and research suggest that CBD may help reduce the inflammation. Research is currently underway to understand the benefits of using CBD for:

        Potentially relieving pain

Research suggests that CBD can help manage pain by interacting with your brain receptors and can relieve different kinds of pain, including chronic, injury, muscle, arthritis, and MS. A CBD and THC based drug called Nabiximols (Sativex) is already approved in Canada, and the UK for the treatment of pain caused by MS. Researchers believe that instead of directly reducing pain, it reduces the inflammation, which in turn reduces pain.

        Potentially reducing acne

It is believed that CBD interacts with our immune system receptors and helps reduce inflammation, which may protect against acne. According to a study by the Journal of Clinical Investigation, CBD interacts with the sebaceous glands and alters the production of sebum, which is a naturally occurring oily substance our body produces for hydrating the skin; however, excess sebum production can cause acne. Be sure to talk to your dermatologist before using CBD for treating acne.

        Help managing cancer symptoms

Several studies are looking into the effects of CBD for preventing and reducing the growth of cancer cells; however, the research is either based on mice or isn’t large enough, so we don’t know for sure if CBD can reduce cancer cell growth. According to the National Cancer Institute, CBD may alleviate the symptoms of cancer and the side effects of cancer treatments such as chemotherapyinduced vomiting and nausea.

        Side effects of CBD

According to experts, CBD doesn’t cause any side effects if you use it appropriately; however, a few side effects may occur if you have a sensitive metabolism. These side effects may include:

        • Depression
        • Dizziness
        • Hallucinations
        • Low blood pressure
        • Withdrawal symptoms, such as irritability and insomnia

          Legality of CBD

Hempderived CBD containing less than 0.3% THC is legal in most of the United States. Other forms of CBD are also legal on a federal level under the Farm Bill of 2018; however, the bill allows states to decide upon the legality of CBD. Few states allow CBD for both medicinal and recreational purposes, few allow it only for medicinal purposes, and few don’t allow the use of CBD for any purpose. If you live in a state which allows both recreational and medicinal use of CBD, then you may not need a prescription to buy CBD. If you live in a state that only allows medicinal use, then you are going to need a prescription from a certified healthcare practitioner. If you possess CBD without a prescription in such states, then you may be at risk of legal action. If you live in a state which doesn’t allow both recreational and medicinal use of CBD, then you should not be in possession of CBD as it can lead to legal action. Always research state and federal laws before buying CBD or any other cannabisderived product.

Consult your doctor before using CBD to know if it’s best for you and always buy certified CBD products. This way, you can eliminate the risks attached to the use of CBD and maximize its benefits.
