Will full spectrum CBD oil get me high?

Full spectrum CBD oil is probably the most popular type of CBD oil. Many people, however, don’t really know much about it and one of the most common questions about full spectrum CBD oil and other full spectrum products is if it will get the user high? In this blog, we’ll answer this question and tell you everything you need to know about full spectrum CBD oil.

What is CBD?

CBD, short for cannabidiol, is one of the 113 cannabinoids of the cannabis plant. Unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), it doesn’t intoxicate or cause a high effect. Instead, it provides a feeling of calm and relaxation. CBD is generally the second more prevalent cannabinoid after THC in the cannabis plant but can be the first in some genetically modified plants. Experts suggest that CBD may be able to cancel out some of the unwanted effects of THC and is considered to be highly effective as a health supplement.

What is CBD oil?

CBD oil is a mixture of CBD extract and carrier oil. The carrier oil helps deliver the CBD into the system and usually includes hemp oil, coconut oil, MCT oil, or olive oil. CBD oil is among the most popular CBD infused products and is high in demand because data suggests that it is highly beneficial for both humans and animals.

What is full spectrum CBD oil?

Full spectrum CBD oil refers to the type of CBD oil that contains all the 113 cannabinoids of the cannabis plant, including THC. The THC concentration in full spectrum is usually very low, around 0.3% (it can be high in some full spectrum oils), which isn’t enough to intoxicate a person or make them feel high. All the cannabinoids in full spectrum CBD oil work together and create something called the entourage effect, which means that the cannabinoids complement each other’s effect and increase the overall effectiveness of the product.

Will full spectrum CBD oil get you high?

No! Full spectrum CBD oil will not get you high. But it isn’t that simple. The high depends on the concentration of THC in full spectrum CBD products and how your metabolism processes them. As mentioned earlier, the concentration of THC in full spectrum CBD oil is usually around 0.3%, which can’t get you high. If you use a CBD oil that contains THC is higher concentration like over 10%, then there’s a chance of you getting high; however, CBD oil with high THC concentration isn’t legal in the majority of the US, so it may not be that easy to find. Furthermore, if your metabolism can’t process THC and is severely sensitive to THC, then there’s a little chance of you getting high after using CBD oil containing 0.3% THC. So, if you aren’t sensitive to THC and are using full spectrum oil containing that contains 0.3% THC, then you won’t get high.

What are the other types of CBD oil?

Other than full spectrum, CBD oil has two more types.

Isolate CBD oil

Isolate CBD oil only contains CBD and doesn’t include any of the other cannabinoids of the cannabis plant. People who don’t want to use other cannabinoids often choose to isolate CBD oil.

Broad spectrum CBD oil

Broad spectrum CBD oil is almost the same as full spectrum CBD oil; the only difference is that it doesn’t include any THC. This type of CBD oil is best for those who want to experience the collective benefits of all the cannabinoids of the cannabis plant but don’t want to consume any THC.

How to use full spectrum CBD oil?

One of the main reasons for CBD oil’s popularity is the flexibility to use. You can use CBD oil in any way you want, including:

Topically

You can apply CBD oil directly to your skin. Put a few drops of CBD oil on your palm and massage it on the problem area. This method of using CBD oil is usually preferred by people seeking relief from pain. The topical application of CBD oil is considered to be the safest method of using CBD oil as the CBD can’t enter the bloodstream.

Sublingually

In the sublingual application of CBD oil, you put a few drops of CBD oil under your tongue, hold it in your mouth for a minute or two and then swallow. The mucous glands under the tongue absorb the CBD and make it easier for the CBD to reach the ECS. This method is considered to be one of the most effective as it provides fast, longlasting results.

Ingestion

Ingesting CBD oil is another popular method. If you know your way around a kitchen, then you can make your own CBD edibles using CBD oil. If you don’t know the first thing about cooking, then you can sprinkle a few drops of CBD oil on the food you just ordered. In this method, the CBD oil can take up to four hours to take effect, so it’s best to wait a while before deciding if the oil is effective or not.

Inhalation

Inhaling CBD oil via vapes and pens is perhaps the fastestacting method; however, it isn’t safe. A recent lung injury outbreak was linked with vapes and e-cigarettes and experts are now advising against their use. Several states are considering banning vapes and e-cigarettes permanently and if that happens, using them would be against the law. So, you may want to choose a different method if you want to add CBD oil to your diet.

Also, be sure to check the product to see if it has a Certificate of Analysis (COA) as it tells you about the ingredients of the CBD oil.
